How to get rid of cloudy water??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It is in the filter media and in the substrate...but the one in the substrate needs an undergravel filter for it to be beneficial..

You don't have enough BIO-MEDIA.

Add some ceramic Bio-Max beads to the Whisper Filter, as they are very insufficient in harboring nitrifying bacteria.

Don't do W/C's, and don't overfeed.

I have found the chemical 'Stability' by Seachem to be VERY effecient at rapidly stabilizing a bio-filter and curing cloudiness.

my water test showed;

ammonia = none
nitrate = 0/safe
nitrate = 0/safe
hardness = o/very soft
alkalinity = 300/high
ph = 8.4/alkaline

what the hell is alkalinity and ph/alkaline??

Yes this is a safe level, but having zero nitrates is a very rare condition. unless you are running a heavily planted tank or just did a massive water change. You may want to get a different test kit. A normal reading would be 20-40ppm for nitrates.

alright, another question that doesnt do with all this is what would make my fish scratch on the gravel with these water conditions?
