So every time I clean my tank and the substrate I stur up billions of small particals that look like dust it kinda fills my tank then after the water change and a couple hours my tank is crystal clear since the dust like stuff settles... any way to get rid of the dust? More water changes? My fish look healthy water chemistry is fine it just bothers me

If you use substrate, it is going to happen. No way around it. 2 hour wait for a clean tank is not bad IMO.

Could reducing the size of the substrate help? I have river rocks from home depot the size ranges from pea to golf ball size... maybe if I use all pea size? Plus it'd give me an excuse to get black substrate

I want to do a sand waterfall on my tank and I'm worried about this too. I wonder if you could get rid of all the really fine particles that don't sink quickly by rinsing and keeping the sand agitated in like a bucket with a hose for a while until only the heavier particles remain?
