i have a lot of limescale on the tank that i just bought and need help getting it off i have tried vinegar and it hasn't really worked what else can i try? and what kinda towel or sponge can i use that wont scratch the tank?

+1 on the razor I had to do this on a glass 55 gallon.

razor or HOT vinegar... the vinegar will take some time to dissolve the lime, it goes faster if it's hot. you could lay the tank on it's side and sit a hot vinegar soaked rag on it.

be careful not to scratch the glass w/ the razor, if you take that route.

i would try the hot vinegar but its a 155g tank and the sob ways about 300 pounds so i cant get it up and down by myself

x2 I will take a rag soaked with the warm vinegar and hold it on an area for a few minutes.. then take it off and immediately attack it with a razor blade. It still takes some elbow grease but the end result imo is nicer then razor blade alone. and the bottom is easy.. just dump a line "layer" of vinegar in the bottom and let it sit for 30mins+ I will then also "wash" the sides with it every few minutes. and between breaks.

took me 1 day to clean my 55 which was caked.. between doing other yard work ect.

If you can get Melamine Sponges where you're at, they work wonders on lime scale. Just scrub it off using the sponge and water.
