How to have perfect water quality for FRT?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree (disagree?) as well, only time mine's got fungus in 7 years is when I boarded some parrot fish in his tank and they started chewing on him...

It is a 55 gallon tank(I know not ideal, but will upgrade that soon), running marineland emperor 330 and marineland penguin 200. Substrate is a mix of 70% pool filter sand and 30% crushed coral. Temp is in the low 80s, and a few giant danios and 2 tiny jack dempseys. Also, there are a couple pieces of driftwood on the bottom, with about 5 live plants throughout. Any ideas? Thanks is advance.

Watch the jacks, I find cichlids very nippy with FRTs. I really like rainbows, as they're big and fast, but not at all nippy.

how do people just come across frts? i've been searching everywhere and the only place i've even seen them is there is one in las vegas for 1200. its like the guys that come across dodge chargers that the only lady has listed in the paper as dodge sedan

Finding one isn't hard, finding one at a good price is.

Kingsnake has one for $700 right now.

I keep a high pH by incorporating aragonite sand in the substrate. It buffers more quickly than crushed coral after water changes and is less abrasive. Just remember to recharge the system about every 2 years with fresh aragonite.

An infection is an infection, period.

It depends on the age too, juvies tend to be more suceptible.

coral sand... always works... find that stuff in SW sections of fish stores.
