I don't know why you are being told epsom salt is the right salt to use for healing properties. NO, epsom salts is normally used when a fish has digestive issues such as bloat, ate too much, etc.... epsom salts is a natural laxative. Epsom salt is diff than aquarium salt. I buy aquarium salt from the pet store. I know it is more expensive but I rarely use it anyways so the extra $$ is not an issue. I know many buy solar salt from lowe's/home depot without a problem and is very economical.

Yes good call on that, for some reason I thought marine and Epson were the same but its just mag sulfate and marine salt has so many compounds, kind of interesting, I actually use marine salt or evaporated sea water for replenishing minerals and healing. Thanks for the clarification!

It's just straight api aquarium salt. It's says right on the box: "evaporated ocean water." I've used it for awhile, no change in ph and it heals my fishes fins quicker
