How to heat 10-15,000 litres?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
BIGS, there is a heater guide showing what wattage you need amongst their (Aquasoonic) pdf brouchures if you do a search. Ahhh easier to just add it: http://www.aquasonic.com.au/brochures/heater_sizing_chart.pdf

The solar heater I mentioned isnt listed since you need different components. A contolller, a temp sensor, a heat exchange unit etc. You can shoot them an email direct for more info.

Thanks fishdance. I would like to get peoples opinions on what size tank I should build based on keeping aligator gar. I was thinking along the lines of 20 feet long and 9-10 wide to occomodate their full potential of 8-10 feet. Might make another thread on this, be interesting to see what opinions are, eg should I go narrower shorter longer etc?

I would go for a circular above ground pool. Lots more swimming and turning room for fish, far cheaper to purchase, easy to add a viewing panel if you wish and provided you create a slow circular current the detritus collects in the center for super easy removal (or put your filter uptake in center). The footprint is wider however but thats better for the fish. You can insulate sides and bottom whatever your design which will greatly help heating.

That was something I had considered but the biggest I've seen circular pools at were 3m across built out of plastic. Unless you are referring to those clark rubber type oval pools
