How to increase the appetite?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Both of my pikes LOVE algae wafers. My Belly Crawler actually got all of my SA/CA cichlids eating wafers. I'd drop one in, my other fish would check it out, and the pike owuld just swoop in and eat it whole. After watching the pike do this a few times, the other fish decided they needed to eat them as soon as they hit the water.

Its become a pretty regular part of all my fishes diet, and i'd imagen they are great for them.

My pikes get (in this order):

OSI Chichlid Premier
Tetra-Min Pro Crisps
OSI herbavore discs
random insects
rosie reds

Both seem very healthy, and my Ven pike is growing faster than any fish i've ever seen.

a pro named v.kutty said its good to raise up the temp at 84!i have the same probleme here so i will try,and give you some news

Some people say that adding aloe (and garlic as mentioned above) extract will increase appetite and health of your fish. I use it and my fish eat like pigs and don't die ... I don't know whether it's the extract or something else though, but I think it also helps the fishkeeper think he's doing the best for his/her fish :D

Our fish go 6-7 days without any food when we take them to shows... Doesn't seem to harm them. I imagine a healthy fish would be OK even longer than that.

Keep in mind most of his fish are almost full grown or at least subadult when they take them to shows...;). Juv. fish shouldn't go much more than 3 or 4 days without gettin food as they need it to grow properly.

I don't let my tanks drop below 82 degrees, most of the time they are at least 84 degrees...;). Make sure there is PLENTY of oxygen in the tank though, as the higher temps restrict the amount of oxygen the water can hold thus makin it harder for the fish to breath if there isn't enough in the water...;)
