how to introduce a gar

Throw it in, gars are the toughest fish in the world- you can throw it in your toilet and it will be fine. I had one jump out during the night and found it the next morning bone dry and breathing- I threw it back in the tank and it lived.

LOL! I love putting my gars in the toilet when I run out of room in the tank!! ;) But in all seriousness, gars seriously are the toughest things. To make it easier on the gar I recommend the drip method (Put gar in bucket of its own water 1/3-1/2 way full, then use aquarium vacuum with a knot tied in middle to allow water to drip into the bucket until the bucket is full, then dump it all into tank with the gar.), but in all honesty, I have always just put my gar into the tank, still in the bag with a hole in it and allowed them to swim out on their own and it has always worked.

+1

I left a gar and two stingrays in a 180 gallon with plenty of food for 2 months, I came back, everything was alive and well. No parasites, disease, nothing, even though the situation wasn't ideal in the time I have left I had to leave them in the tank.

wow how is that possible??no water changes or anything for 2 months??
