i saw an afican i cant live without but it is smaller than the rest of my aficans.

how should i introduce it?:headbang2

well first, what is the one that you found and what are the ones you want to put it in with?

blue ice african cichlid is what it want to add in with 1 kenyi, 1 electric yellow, 2 jewels, 1 bumblebee, 1 zebra, 2 auratus

I spent about two hours last night trying to fish out 4 two inch d. compressiceps from a 210g tank. As soon as I introduced them the tank went into a feeding frenzy. All the commotion is what saved them.

It is just hit or miss as last week I introduced two venustus that got into the fuge as fry and grew to about 1-1/2 inches then started to eliminate all the cherry shrimp. The tank paid no attention to them at all.

Silver fish draw more attention as a free meal and the type of stock in the tank is a major factor.

If it is not too much smaller, it might be able to hold its own. You could try rearranging rockwork, the new fish needs to establish a territory but is very difficult if the other cichilds are already settled.

I have not owned a kenyi so I cant speak for it, but my concern would be with the 2 auratus, when I had my tank they were always my trouble team, esp. with new additions. The others, in my experience from owning them were not as aggressive with new fish that I added, but everyone's tanks work different. It may balance out and it may not. I would for sure take the advice on re-arranging rock work if you go for it. You may also want to double check the species profiles and see the comparability for them as well for extra input to your decision.

I always add new fish at night while the others are sleeping. It seems to cut down on aggression and gives the new fish a chance to check out the tank without being harassed by the other fish.
