i have a small tank with a wire mesh top, i was just wondering how i could keep the hummidity up, i am useing reptile bark as substrate and i already have a water dish but how do i keep it hummid in the tank? also this tank will eventully house juvinile basilisk lizards

How big is this "small" tank? Basilisks need a lot of room. I would get rid of the reptile bark and instead use coco-fiber like Eco Earth. It holds humidity much better. You can also use a piece of plexiglass for the top to help keep the humidity in.

it is only a temperary tank it is 30 gallons they will be transfered to a large 75 gallon tank and were can i find this coco fiber and how much will it cost also can a male common basilisk get along with a female green basilisk ? and i have heard that live plants like spider plants also keep some of the hummidity in as for plexy glass were do i find it

use a dripper for chameleons and spray bottle

Your on the right track asking questions, but I recommend you research more before purchasing the basilisk. You can find eco earth at most pet shops that carry reptiles. To keep the humidity up, you can leave a damp towel over a part of the screen to hold in the humidity.

instead of coco fiber i got cypres bed and i will use a spray bottle and putting a wet towel over part of the tank right now i only have three fence lizards in it

Just buy a piece of plexiglass from Lowe's or Home Depot. You can ask them there to cut it to the size you need to cover the top of the cage. You can also use a saw and cut out a circle in it where you would place the basking lamp.

thanks!

One surefire was to increase humidity is to have water movement. You can create a waterfall, add a submersible pump, or even an air stone to achieve this. You'd also want to cover 2/3-3/4 of the top and direct a fan that blows lightly into the tank for air circulation. Know, of course, that the more humidity-the more bacteria, so you want to be sure keep it moderate. Check out www.blackjungle.com. They have a variety of timed misters that work great.
