thats why we use the vinegar after we bleach it. If u let is soak it negates the bleach then just rinse with water

I don't know if you know or not, but I would be really careful in that situation. If you mixed a decent amount of those two, even by mistake, you create chlorine gas. It is deadly in high enough concentrations.

I just crank up the aquarium heater to the mid 90's for a few days then drain and rinse.

That wont cut it for a majority of bacteria.
