Im sick of my fish, I cant sell them, (even at a low price / fish store doesnt want it back) I dont have the room to keep them so I am going to kill them. Any idea? or method for easy death?

I tried to use cooking oil on a sick goldfish before, but it take hours and its still breathing... :irked:

Should I bag them up and throw them into the freezer?

What should I do?

3 polleni ~ 6", 4" and 3.5"
1 pike cichlid ~ 7"
Cooking oil virtually will not kill the fish in an instant. The point of euthanasia is to ensure the fish dies in an instant without suffering from pain. The clove oil method suggested by Cisc is the best method recommended so far.

On another note, personal attacks will not be tolerated. Plenty of clean ups have been done. Knowing euthanasia, it is a controversial subject but I must ask you only once to keep this thread clean.

dude, keep the ex an ex, time to upgrade, and dont kill the fish, they dont deserve it, someone will grab them up, hopefully youve learned something from this experience

bro id help, which lfs have u tried? try the one in east chinatown the lfs in the basement she gets lots of huge FHs given awy to her, I personally know most of the lfs I think I can help u... tell me if uve already ask the lfs soo i dont make a ass by asing them again... GL

Dude, don't kill the fish. Because guess what? Not trying to sound harsh, but she didn't dump you because of the fish... she used the fish as an excuse to cover up for dumping you for some other reason. Trust me, I've seen it all...

I know :irked:

My gf dumped me for spending too much time and money on the fish

I want my gf back, so Im quitting / selling all the stuff in my basement. Sadly none of these fish I got that will go well with the big fish at my work place.

I did try to sell them and offer to a lfs (free), but they dont want it cause its too hard to sell

When I see something I like, I will buy without hesitation. Id find it very difficult to control myself when it comes to fish, (buying or adopting)

Id almost brought a 5" baby arapima giga for $180 two months ago (they are so cute). The store also got a 9" blue diamond rhom for $220 :WHOA: and the owner offer to me for $160 and I almost brought it too

Im sorry that I brought them impusively and sorry that I adopted a 3" diamond rhom 2 days ago too, which I dont know what to do with it now
(the rhom is in that breeding tank in the pic)

Thats my weakness :( I hope I can change my bad habit

Stop calling it your weakness, take responsibility. If you can't house a fish and don't plan to upgrade your aquariums, don't buy it. It's that simple. If you absolutely can't control yourself, stay out of LFS after you give away your fish. I've been impulsive in the past, but it was fully my fault.

When I was younger I was impulsive with pets. I always bought big enough enclosures, but had more pets than I could care for. I ended up giving them away for free in the newspaper. I should never have bought the animals in the first place(it was my fault), but I had no trouble finding new homes for them.

I say give the fish away. You should be able to find a home for them if you offer them for free. After some years you might feel like you are more prepared to keep fish again. It worked for me. I'm proud to say I have made it past the one year mark and I'm still keeping up with the weekly water changes and monthly filter work(plan to keep it that way :) )

Looks like you got a pm :) Now you just need a home for the pike.

I think you are to be commended for being honest with your intentions...I hope all of the aggressiveness you received here in this thread, does not further discourage you. They are all just being passionate.

Euthanizing fish for whatever reason is a part of this hobby, like it or not....Asking how to do it properly, here, is also the RIGHT THING to do....

Smashing fish has been recommended by some serious pro's as the quickest way to go for the fish. Clove oil is the humane route. Freezing is said to cause hours of pain before death. Chopping the head off is said to cause a few moments of pain.

I think you are TOTALLY awesome for making this thread, and giving fish (regardless of worth or species) a CHANCE....You are A-OK in my book. Good luck with your Ex....If that was meant to be it will be or not....

I hope you get things worked out with your ex and your fish. No condemnation, I think you will do the right thing.
