so, an undertank heater on one of my vivariums blew out or something. The heater is attached to the bottom of the tank. The tank is a 40 gallon, with expanded clay bottom, gravel, substrate, water and other stuff in it. The new heater is an exo terra undertank heater that requires me to put spacers under the tank. I and a friend together cannot lift the tank at all. SO, how can I lift the tank enough to get the old heater off, put in the spacers, and get the new heater on, WITHOUT disturbing the tank. let me know. Thanks.

Well either way, your going to have to disturb the tank. What is the tank on and what is in the tank?

the tank is on a modified computer desk, it is directly on a plexiglass sheet over 1"shelving. Luckily, I have moved the animals out at the moment, but the tank does have approximately $300 of rare plants in it.

and you cant shimmy it part way off either (just the edge). Only try this from the bottom of the tank, not the top. More people an option? I dont think its a great idea to be moving the tank (esp. if its a viv made tank) with a lot of heavy stuff inside. I dont think the exoterra pads need the spacers, but i would imagine ironically are just so you can replace them or if need be take them out from underneath easily. Could be wrong though. I dont know what really to suggest if you cant do it other than take out the minimum until you can lift it

You get one of these bad boys or two

mo is good for it

but a 40G tank isn't really that heavy,i move the 45 that my legless lizard is in all the time

Well arent you big and strong...!

I would imagine its the contents that is making it particularly heavy to lift ;)
