Fastest way to clear the yellowish tint from drift wood is to place AC in the filter for a few days.

Howdy,

can you guys read?! He said his water was "clowdy" (well, he can't spell, but that's besides the point ;) ). As I stated in my post, we have to differentiate between color and "cloudy". Obviously, his problem is not color but floating stuff.

I greatly advice against UV. What's the point?! It lets you go without water changes for a few more weeks?! Essentially, it solves the symptoms but is not a cure: The tank still has a nutrient imbalance. Take care of that using the advice given above, and save your money instead of spending it on a UV sterilizer.

My 2 cents, If you are getting green water (microalgae) do a partail water change everyother day for a week or so, and while you are doing that make sure your tank doesn't get direct sunlight and that you turn off the light at night, If your tank is not planted yet add macro algae like elodea or cabomba, a few bunches of each, you don't even have to root them. They will outcompete the microalgae for nutrients. You should see a difference within a week or two.

Yes mate i think that may well be a good idea !

Is there a sunlight hitting your tank? If so, thats probably how you are getting these algaes. Also, a good filter system would most likely clear your tank. Extra filteration wouldn't hurt. I probably would recommend getting Aquaclear 70 or 110.

well my tank gets clear almost everytime. do you have gravel in there? what kind of filtration you using? water change is the key. it wont happen over night though.

What he said.

If your filters are well cycled (holding plenty of good bio), you could try a 100% water change. Take the fish out of course. Syphon the water out, flip/vac the gravel, scrub the tank etc. Fill it back up, turn filters back on, put fish in yada yada.

Also like these guys said, direct sunlight can cause major algae. Might want to move the tank if it's getting a lot of direct sun.

with the stock i have(in my sig) two eheim pro II 2028's keeps my tank super clear. i think the key is good bio filtration. lol by the end of the summer ima put some AC 110 on the tank
