I'm trying to breed my jack dempseys and I recently thought I was close but it turned up as nothing... What can I do to get these guys to lay some eggs.. I have read different things but it doesn't seem like anything I do helps any....

Patience, good food ideal water conditions. When you do wc's add cooler water.:)

Well they must pair up. Then you must keep them healthy along will good water conditions and temp. They are not humans

For me constant good water. Every day or every other day 10-20 percent water changes and a very good diet. If they pair up great and if not it's not a big deal. Most of the time all mine do. Once they breed its more difficult to stop it so be prepared lol

Well what does pair up consist of? They are the only 2 in the tank... And they dig constantly together and are always by each other's side

That they actually are male and female and are breeding. I had males who would be constantly next to each other and dig together.

Did her tube swell up and drop?

Yea they are male and female.. Idk what a tube looks like

The spangles on the females face plus she is 2wice as small as the other one.. My male has no spangled beard.. And he is large.. Plus his dorsal fin is pointed and my female has no color on her body
