Yeah beard, no beard is usually pretty accurate. The tube will be right behind the anus, females will have a larger tube, where males are usually smaller and pointed. If they are dropped it's usually a good sign. As far as inducing, crank the temp up a couple degrees and frequent water changes with slightly cooler water. Also some mysis shrimp, krill, blood worms and other rich foods wouldn't hurt. Do you have a large flat rock or something else for them to lay the eggs on?
