has anyone tryed to make a tank divider theirself?? I'm asking this because my delhezi bichir is consantly getting bullied and has no time to heal his fins. I have a 75 gallon tank and I can find any divider with a width and hieght of 18 inches. What material do you need to make your own divider?? video?? i'm thinking of glass or plaster?? The thing about glass, the edges mifgt scratch my tank. any suggestions and where I can get some good material??
thanks

Go to HomeDepot and get some plexiglass. Cut to inside dimensions of tank and drill multiple small holes in it. Don't push to hard when drilling, it will splinter a little.

Go to a home depot and buy egg crating. It's in the lighting section. That's what a lot of people use. It's easy to cut and works great.

what should I do with the edges to prevent scratches caused be it?? thanks guys.

The holes are 1/2". If that's too big, wrap the divider in fiberglass screen. I use 1" foam pipe insulation for the edges to close the gaps fit the divider in snuggly. Some plastic zip ties can be used to hold on the screen and insulation

I have also done the plexyglass thing, works good even if you do crack it when drilling. Like rinkle said drill real slow (you're really melting the plastic rather than chipping like other materials).also you can use the protective plastic on the sheet to mark your pattern, drill it then peel it off.

i used egg crate with the screenin and it worked good

Here's a picture of the egg crate lighting material installed. I didn't add anything to the edges. It's not hard enough to scratch the glass. In my case, none of the fish were small enough to go through it.
