Go to a home depot and buy egg crating. It's in the lighting section. That's what a lot of people use. It's easy to cut and works great.

I also use eggcrating as a divider. It works really well. However, even if there are plenty of holes in it to let water pass from one side to the other, it still reduces drastically water circulation in the tank. I once read 0 ppm ammonia on one side and 0.25 ppm on the other side. It's use may implies a little rearangement of the filtration/circulation setup

Plain scissors work ok too. It's very brittle, so it's not hard to cut
