Uv is the way to go. Gars love floating plants! My indoor pond has only a few floating plants. But sure as shoot everytime i come down there he is hanging underneath the plants.

Hey Mark, aside from pothos and duckweed, you can also try Wisteria. This plant is a super absorbant. It grows quickly and take up tons of nitrate from the water, depriving algae from their food source. Only downside is that they absorb too much, so unless your tank is heavily stocked, you would have to dose fertilisers or the leaves will turn pale and die. I don't think you would have to dose much with that dream stocklist you told me

And yes, YOY gars appreciate floating plants as shelter. Water lilies, duckweed, Hydrocotyle asiatica and Eichhornia azurea are some example of plants they can take refuge in/under. I'm sure its easy to get some Hydrocotyle asiatica since they are native to Singapore.

I'd go with watter lettuce or hyacinth if you're using natural sunlight. They're easier to keep under control as well since they are so large.

Thanks for all the wonderfull ideas. ill be designing both floating plants and creeper over the top will be ok. algae scrubbers will be put on hold first.
