How to move a Silver?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i should be movin them over by next weekend. i have other fish in the bigger tank like the gars n what not, but my aros are my prize possessions so i wanna make sure everythings perfect n i dont wanna risk anything. so 1 more week to let the bio seed but honestly, the tank looks perfect already cuz its been 2 weeks.

n i kno it MUST be against the mfk code lol. i didnt kno you needed the aro out so thats not a bad idea. just thought maybe u could save the trouble and stress on the aro by jus waitin til summer. cuz honestly i doubt he'll be any different at only 14" up to about 20" in the same tank he's in. but there's nothin wrong with givin him a bigger tank then n even bigger tank lol. i say you get a video of you moving him. i think i may do the same lol.

When I traded in my 16"silver I just used a fishing net and a cooler. I filled the cooler about half way and then netted the aro, got him in to the cooler and then headed to the LFS. He didn't even lose a scale.

Ya I was thinkin' of using the cooler, thats how I move all my fish in the car. The great thing though is the quick close lid. Anyhow I'm off to get a koi net and a rain suit:D

That's how I did it. He came out fine, kept all his scales, fins and barbels. It was a little rough at first though, because when I was trying to scoop him up in the net he jumped out of the tank a good 9-10'. Probably would have gone farther, but he found a wall. Also had to tape the lid down on the cooler because he was strong enough to open it when he jumped.

I used a fishing net I got at sports authority, and a plastic coleman cooler I've had forever.
