I'm getting ready to set up our 300 gallon Marineland/Perfecto Deep Dimension tank. Our replacement stand FINALLY was delivered today. I did have a question concerning the overflows. How do I go about notching out the predetermined areas? I know I only have to notch out one on each side, and it's supposed to be the ones closest to the back glass where the return jets go. There are three little tabs holding each piece on, but they are too thick to break off by hand. Should I try and cut the tabs with a utility knife, or should I use pliers and try to wiggle it back and forth until it comes loose?

Thanks.

Wow! That is my dream tank! Did you get the Marineland stand that goes with it? Also, did you get the sump and pumps and lights from them as well?

I don't have good answer for you on the overflows but I know that some guys on reefcentral have done different type of mods on the 300dd stock overflows.

Yes. We bought the stand & canopy that goes with the tank. We went with the Red Oak color option. We did purchase the Marineland 4 Sump and two 5500 Maxi-Jet pumps. Not sure how they will perform, but we went with those choices because they were mated with the tank in most package systems.

This is a photo of the overflow and the area where I have to notch out the plastic.

I used a utility knife on mine.

Thanks for the reply! Seems like a great system to me.

As far as the over flows go, I've seen the reefers cut out some of the teeth to help increase the volume of flow and make things more silent. Some have replaced the teeth altogether with black eggcrate as well.

What kind of lighting are you going to use?

Please be sure to keep us posted with pics!!!!!

thanks

BAD NEWS. The replacement stand that came today, is damaged, too. This will be the THIRD stand to be delivered to our residence. Keep in mind, these are shipped directly from the manufacturer. It has now been over a month and 12 days since we originally placed our order. RIDICULOUS! Marineland/Perfecto needs to do something about the way they package these items.

We bought 2 Marineland LED Double Bright light strips for the 300 gallon tank. We are going for the more subdued lighting, that's why we went with those. Our 10+ year old Fly River Turtle prefers the lower lighting levels.

Here's a pic of the lights on top of the empty 300, which is sitting on the carpet, still.

Oh no! Bummer! That must be very disappointing. I'd be pissed.

What freight carrier are they using Im wondering if this is the problem. Some of them are really rough on the stuff there carrying
