How to pellet train pbass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It would be nice if he could separate them and power feed the smaller kel until it catches up in size.
Theo (smaller one) is power fed to the max. Poor thing looks like his stomach will burst. Luther (larger one) is growing like a weed.
Larger tank is coming. I think I need to split em up for a bit after I get it set up.
BTW now feeding the freeze dried minnows I posted about a while back. Along with sticks. garlic, VitaChem and krill.

How big are they? Is it possible to sex them now? It might be a male and a female since the smaller grows slower that might be a female.

Luther is 8" and he has a hump forming. He is stout. Theo is a "large" 6" going on 7. No hump (yet?).
When you say sex them do you mean venting?

Sounds like Luther is gonna be nice with that hump forming.

Theo is short for Theodora?

Kelberi are my favorite of all of the cichla.

The only reason I got them vs others was the size (supposed to be a smaller bass). Tried orinos but oscars pestered them to death. Orinos just too small. Should have got bigger. So I bought bigger kels which is what I wanted in the first place.
Overall it's worked out great. The kels are like dogs. They can tell exactly what I am doing and they wag their tails.
I do envy you people who can have big tanks though. My options are limited.

I wish I could go bigger too.I have seen some sweet deals the past few days but they are just too far away for me to even consider..as is usually the case.
What size tank do you have?

Its about 125. 47X20X31(water level). I live in a condo so I don't have much room for my zoo. Thank God the wife is up for putting a 200 gal in the living room. I know these tanks are not the best size for pbass and oscars but these types of fish are why I got back in the hobby. What room they lack I try to make up with the best care I can give them.
When I started this I said to myself, well if they get too big you can give some away. Yeah, right... Now that would be like giving away a child.
