How to pick out a good RD/Midas/Other Amphilophus

You could go to Rapp's website see what he has. Then send him an e-mail tell him what your looking for and let him pick somthing out for you. This way you can be sure you got what you paid for. Not a hybird or somthing of dubious lineage. Just a suggestion.

Yes. Go with a reputable source if you want to minimize the chance of getting something less than what you want. But I'm sure you know this because you bought a Trimac.

I know what I want now I think Hoplarchus Psittacus. A local store 2 hours away sells them at about5-6 inches for $40. Anyone know what they are like? Would one make a good wet pet?

I wanted one awhile back but never got one. Saw a pick while looking at Veija and was like I want that.

I have narrowed it down to either:
Hoplarchus Psittacus
Amphilophus Trimaculatum
Amphilophus Citrinellus
Amphilophus Labiatus
Amphilophus Lyonsi
Vieja synspila

Generally speaking Midas are deeper bodied that Devils. Red Devils (Amphilophus Labiatus) are generally more agressive than Midas (Amphilophus Citrinellus) however there are exceptions to the rule. TUIC has some nice young Trimacs right now you might consider......I would recommend them.
