ok so im going to get my very first fh. what should i look for in a flower horn? i am planning on purchasing one that is about 1-3 inches.

good strong flowerline, the more the better
look for lots of strong pearls (the shiney irridecent marks like texas or jd)
most have a blazing red midsection eminating from the lower of the body, the more intense the better, also remember if the fish has White orange or yellow eyes it is a Kamfa and not a Zhen Zhu, if you would like more info on the difference between Kamfa and Zhen Zhu feel free to ask
look around a few places and the nicest fish with these qualities is the one with the most potential at this moment in time.

these fish has good potential, and qualities like i mentioned above, often noticeable by their oval body shape and fins that do not create a solid shape, they almost always have the red in their misection whereas kamfa vary in colour greatly.
fishes have many random qualities so if you can find a fish with most of what i mentioned above that is likely to be a good purchase, but less attractive fish may blossom into beautiful adults.

Kamfa are stockier, and are bred more from Vieja, they usualy have white,orange or yellow eyes , sometimes red. they have a poor fertility rate though.
they have a stockier body and a shorter face, they often have a solid flowerline and their tail fin is more fan and the dorsal and anal fins seem to wrap around it,
Both of these breeds are beautiful and differ within themselves but im merely giving you a quick breakdown of the differences so you can better deffine them when you are looking in the fish shops for yourself

pearls and flowerline.. lots of pearls.. and flowerline stretching as far along the side as possible (flower line = black markings)

shape of fish.. you dont want a long skinny fish..
shorter and taller body is better..
and length of mouth.. shorter is better...
