HOW TO PIRANAH?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you don't need much to breed piranha..I've bred piranha before and it's easy. they will breed in raining season. if you got a pair in your tank, do a huge water change when the rain in your area.

Get about 4-6 red bellies in your 125gallon. they piranha will be mature in the age of 8month plus or 8" or bigger. Once you see when they turn dark and big stomach most likely it's a female...male would be skinny and long, however it's not 100% that way.

In order to know what sex is it you gotta let them mate and bred. the one will ferterlize would be the male. and get extremely aggressive.

once they breed you will know it's female or male.

I got 3 of them and for fact I know i got 2 female and 1 male. all about 9-10".

just had to throw this in here.

Noticed you said "guyana red"....there is only 1 species of red belly...and that is pygocentrus nattereri....they can come from many differant collection points. So don't get caught up in the myths, paying more for fish that will be the same no matter what.

You have P. Nattereri (Red belly)---most common, unimpressive as far as I am concerned
P. Caribe (caribe or cariba)--Humeral spot behind gills
P. Piraya ( Piraya)---Flame color pattern extending above the lateral line of the fish

Then you have Ternetzi...which is still P Natterei, but are very very differant than a red belly. Found in Argentina, Paraguay, Uraguay. Two variants of this fish, yellow, and green. Often called yellow belly pirahnas by the people who are trying to make an extra buck, and know very little about these fish.

You also have the snakeskin red belly, or reticulated red belly, (commonly called a super red) which are still Nattereri, but have a certain spotting pattern on them and know for super bright red colors, and are found from certain collection points only. Northern Brazil I belive.

THANKS, AND YAH I WAS MIS INFORMED BUT THESE.....P. Caribe (caribe or cariba)--Humeral spot behind gills ARE THE ONES THAT I THOUGHT WERE GUYANA, BUT ANYWAY, THESE ARE MY FAVORITE, I WILL PROBABLY GO WITH THESE
