If you order off reputable website like Doctors F&S you'll get amazing customer service. I had ordered a eheim canister from them and I had no idea how to prime it or anything so I plugged it in and it was making a grinding sound. I though it was the impeller and I contacted Doctors F&S. 2 days later a brand new impeller showed no questions asked, and they gave me advice on priming after it wouldn't "work" again. But on the other hand I've ordered off of ebay and the moment I have a problem it's like they don't exist anymore. It's just a matter of opinion. Your pump seems pretty solid and if there are people recommending it's probably a good pump. BTW what store did you go to?

I got it from atlantis aquarium. http://www.atlantisva.com/ I Know foster and smith is fast but they cant compare to a five minute drive accross town. I honestly dont mind paying a little extra for piece of mind.
I really meant Peace of Mind. None of the pics show a permanent set up just how I set it up in the kitchen over a few beers.
I did glue up the returns in sections this evening and I'm pretty happy with the way they turned out. I tried out an adhesive by loctite that is non toxic and is an acrylic in itself. At this point I'm not impressed. I'll test the strength of the bond in the a.m. If I'm not satisfied with the bond I'll try the "retail version" of weld on tomorrow.
I bought a decent size sheet of 1/4" cell cast tonight and I returned the lexan patches. I figure the crack cant be repaired much with a product that doesnt share the same molecular structure and wont improve strength at all.

I found the worlds greatest hardware store. The had weld on #3 and Novus #2 So this project is going into high gear here in the next few minutes. I picked up a buffer and will be first sand then buff then patch over the next 4-5 hours or so. I also picked up a 55 gal glass for the sump and will finish the plumbing today even if it means I will be up all night.
Uhm I'm not sure. The novus works wonders, atleast it was until I snapped the head off the buffer. I had my wife stop and pick up another one so I applied the weld on 3. It was relatively easy to work with and both sides of the crack oozed liquid acrylic when I clamped it together. (good to see)I'll cut the patch panes in a few and stick em on after an hour or so. The weld on 3 says that initial bond is almost instantaneous and the strength of the bond will increase in strength for up to a month. I'll wait a few hours before unclamping the crack to put the patches on. How long should I wait?

I dont know if you guys have any experience with the weld on 3 but that stuff was rock solid in less than 10 minutes. It was about 5-6 hours before I filled it and I dont see how in the world that bond could be seperated.
I wound up with a 29 gallon tank for the sump which I'm not happy about but it's the only tank I had that would fit the inner width of the stand
! I also should have used some sort of disconnect for the overflows because I still have to move it to it's final resting place and the stationary plumbing will make it a little difficult. All in all it has been a learning experience that I will continue to improve on over time. Next up is to drain it, consrtuct the sump correctly and move it to another wall.
