I just bought 4 bunches of anacharis for my 180g tank to help control algae etc... Having live plants is new to me. And noticed snails on these plants whn I brought them home (bought at petsmart) I do not want to introduce these snails to my tank so I have them in a bucket right now... Question is, how do I make sure these are all cleaned of snails before I enter them to my tank?... Should I use a aq salt dip? Alum? Bleach? Any help/advise is greatly appreciated! Thanks

Snails are extrememly difficult to get rid of. You were smart by keeping it out of your tabk for now because snails in an aquarium usually end up a permanent fixture. Id recommend using copper sulfate bath in about 5x recommended strength(Ive used seachem cupramine) for about 10 min baths and you might want to do a couple baths. Depending on the type pf snail this should wipe them out but may not kill all eggs depending on the type of snail. Pond snails are the toughest to rid imo and I think its because they lay eggs in a jelly sac that seems to protect them from the meds. Look for jelly blobs on the plants and wipe them off if possible.

and my last bit is GOOD LUCK! Snails can be a nightmare

seachem cupramine sounds liek a good idea, but i dont have any place near me that sells it... i can order on line and wait a week but if i can get something just as good (alum?) today, thatll be good.. what else could i use? thx

hows alum? ... i read somewhere that works too.. if bathed for a couple days

will look into copper sulfate as well
