How to save money on s.w. reef set ups.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
really we can all pay about 1.99 per lb of good live rock
if u have the places to get it from ........i love the world of retail ><))))">

green sunfish is prolly a north american Bass food...never seen any that i kno of...

So your telling me once i have the water in the tank and everything setup, to just get like 10 lbs of live rock per say to get the water cycled with everything? then add more after it had been cycled once completely? and just use agronite sand in the mean time.. i think i can handle that.. as for soft corals that would thrive in p.c.'s any advice on some names of easy types to keep??

i also really liked ur idea to use as many types of live rock as i can...figi/gulf...

Thanks for all your patience with all of the less experienced MArinists.

Well honestly for the first part it doesn't really matter how much live rock you get. This will be a waiting game no matter what you do. The more you have the better off you are though. What really matters is the 2nd introduction that's when you want to get some primo rock if it cost $12 per pound it won't matter because you'll only need a couple of pouds.
hth and answers your question.

Ok so the first round of rock is just to introduce ammonia and bacteria and stuff and the 2nd introduction is to turn the base rock into the good 12$ per lb rock?

by the way check out the size of the worm that was in this dudes tank... he noticed his corals would magically vanish over night so he staked out his tank and found a 7 foot MEANCING WORM!!! www.oregonreef.com

"Primo" live rock? I got mine from the shelf. It was labeled "Pet Live Rock", and it had plastic eyes and hair glued to it. I would call that "Primo"! LOL

I've seen them and had a friend that had one that ate his fish ,"as in would catch them while swimming umh that is a monster worm in anyone's book"

suprised more fish dont eat them... what kinda worm was that thing?? i see those at the beach i think
