so for my 55 i should add like 5 lbs of live rock and some base rock with it, and a shrimp?? then let them chill and let the water simmer... then add the good live rock after it has simmered for a few weeks??? your advice is much appreciated!!

Exactly then turn on the lights after the cycle is done and you're good to go. If you want a reef don't skim on lights or a skimmer just use your $ smarter even if you have it don't blow it lol. happy to help you anytime and guys I'm usually busy with ac or woolgathering if you have any questions shoot me a pm at ac and I'll be happy to popp over for you.

I think I overkilled on the bacteria with the live rock, live sand, filter biomedia, and biospira. I had to add fish just to make sure the bacteria are fed. I am pretty much doing a bacteria theme tank right now. LOL
