I recently bought a 360 gallon acrylic tank. The person before me drilled two 2" holes in the bottom of the tank for the wet/dry filter. I have decided to seal the bottom of the tank and go with a different filteration system.

How do I seal the two holes on the bottom of the tank? i know i should not use silicone, but an uncertain of what acylic sealant i should use and how big of a piece of acrylic i should put over the holes.

Where can i get the things i need to do this....I am a rookie at this stuff.

any info is much appreciated.

go to a local acrylic supplier and get some scrap pieces of 1/2 laying around. They usually sell it for a few bucks. While there get weld on 16. Just slather the patch with weld on and apply it to the inside of the tank. Put some weigh on it and you are done.

Option two would be to install bulkheads with caps on the outside so you can easily switch to a wet dry later or plumb a canister to the holes if you choose to down the road.

which of the two options have the least chance of leaking?

apprecite the info....

Is 4 stronger than 16? whats the difference?

thanks again

I have the same problem with my 180 I got off CL. I have three holes on the bottom but someone on here told me to just get bulk heads and get the caps for them. I was even been told I could get the caps that are flat VS the ones with the big square thing on them!!

did you use the caps? how did they work?

If you not going used wet/dry I suggest try seal them with 1/2 acrylic, weld on #4 will do the job, its wont leak if you done it right.
