Unfortunately that is to be expected , to pair them you'll need a group of 5-6 the younger the better, if your lucky a pair will form from the group , unfortunately the others will likly be killed very quickly when that happens.
Introducing a single mate almost always results in an instant death match . Channa require that competition for a pair to form. Make sure their is plenty if space and hiding places and the temperature should ideally be on the lower end of the spectrum to lessen agression.
