How to set up a arowana tank RIGHT ?

sounds like you need some fish basics first before even attempting a fish like an arowana ;)
 
actually i completely agree with Greg. as will most people on this site. It depends though is your water hard or soft?
 
1st cycle your water. and yes de-chlorinated water should be used.
all fish will need these parameters.
as for silvers, they prefer soft water.
 
Just seems like if all you know about keeping a fish is dechlorinating your water, you should start with something easier to care for then an arowana.

A big wallet for a huge tank and a room that can support the weight. Everything else should be similar to other fish. Cycled and upkeep. What size tank are you housing yours in?
