Hello, I am new to this site. I have a few questions about setting up my 125 gallon tank.
1. Will the weight of the tank ruin my vinyl flooring?
2. I have a drilled tank how can I set it up so I can feel sure that it wont overflo and ruin my floor?
3. I bought it used and it came with some kind of filter system, but I dont know how to set it up, is there somewhere to read about setting up a tank this size?
Thanks

1--->No....

2--->Is it drilled at the bottom or the backsides????

3--->A, B or C...What type of filter shape:

a) Is it a cylinder(can) type
b) Hang on back
c) Box shaped that sits under the tank...Also known as a sump, which I think it may be since the tank is pre-drilled

photo's will help us help you with you're tank
thanx

most likely u will need to buy another filter, i suggest Fluval FX 5. depending on the quality of ur floor it may start to bow over years of water on the floor and the weight.

The tank is drilled at the bottom.
Box shape that sits under the tank. It is 20 inches long x 9 1/2 wide, 15 inches tall

What's in the box above the outlet? It's some sort of bio sump but for the size of the holes in the bottom it looks like it should be part of a bigger filter setup?

Is that a condom in there? haha kidding.

Looks like the previous owner used a sump filtertration setup.

That's a nice tank/base though man! I like it!

Is that all I need to get this thing going? Do I need to buy something like the fluval fx 5 also? The previous owner used it for koi fish in the winter. So I would need to by a heater, he did not use one.
Do systems set up like this have a good chance of overflowing onto the floor? I will be moving it to brand new flooring and I am worried it could overflow.

the only times i had issues with the sump over flowing was if the power went off and the spray bar syphoned water out of the main tank. though if you set the spray bar up right it shouldnt do that.

if the connections on the drilled end of the tank are leaky you can get water out that way as well. but it is easily fixable by using plumbers tape or new fixtures with the tape.

usually there isnt too much worry about it overflowing or leaking.

its a nice setup, i'm jealous
