How to setup 125 gallon tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I want to thank everyone that is helping me. I also want to add that, I have no idea on how to set this tank up, I do not now how to put all this stuff together. About 4 years ago I owned a 75 gallon that ran with a fluval canister. I had 2 Oscars that I got very attached to and after about 2 years they both died. I dont want to make the same mistakes I did then that caused their death. I am not real motivated to do half tank water changes every week like I was told I should have done back then. I am trying to find out what will be involved in taking care of fish in this tank before I get involved with it. I do not know what kind of fish I want, at one time I thought a few sunfish with a MN lake type theme, but I am not set on anything. Is there a place to look a pictures of step by step on how this tank system should be set up?
Thanks for all help

how did ur Oscars die? are Oscars hard to take care of?

Some people that know there Oscars told me that I should have done half tank water changes every week, checking the chemical balance in the water, not using water straight from the tap. They said you should let the water sit in tubs for 3 days, then use that for the water change next time. Oscars are messy eaters and get the tank real dirty. I asked them why they lived for 2 years before dying, and they said it probably took that long for the bad water to finally affect them.

i thought Oscars were a bit hardy then that. i do a 40% w/c a week and i just take straight from the tap and then add water conditioner after im finished putting the new water in. everyone seem pretty healthy so far. its only been 3 months since i started keeping fish.
