Kind of but I chose to run it in a reactor due to using a large amount of purigen vs placing a lot of bags of it in my sump and running it loosely through a reactor will have optimal flow through every bead of purigen. To the OP u can also place the bag of purigen in the reactor and run any gph flow through it and not worry about having it go back into your sump.
I'd actually think the size of the reactor would make a little difference. Not the height, but a bigger diameter. The larger diameter would make less water pressure through purigen. Wouldn't it?
I suppose that's true. I know I could of set my sump up like my last too with no baffles and ceramic media. I decided to take the time to add baffles to this one and trying to do a nice job. I guess I'm not really the lazy type that does things a certain way just, because it's the easiest and takes the least work. From what I read rom people that have done it purigen is more efficient in a reactor. I would believe it, because I've used the bags and I know every once in a while I have to move the beads around in the bag, because it seems the ones in the middle bag aren't doing anything.
