Figured I should update this. I did indeed receive the mesh material from the glass-holes.com guys and it works alright. It didn't remove the noise entirely, but it did lessen it to the point that I no longer notice it at all, so that's a victory. I do have to rinse it out every time I change water in the tank, but that's no big deal. Hopefully this thread will help others who stumble across it now.
