How to solve BIGGEST problems in MFKing?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
There is not much (IMO) that can be done with the captive bred stuff but the imported animals whether fish, reptile or amphibian can have an import tax placed on them. A tax of 2-3 bucks PER animal. This would raise the price of the animals considerably but it would reduce the number of "disposable" animals. It would just not be cost effective to order and buy indescriminately. Then the collected tax revenue could be ear marked for habitat restoration only within the US.

I run a rescue out of my house. I post on craigslist constantly "willing to take in large fish" and all the local LFS's within 200 miles have my number and call me when a big fish gets surrendered to them. I am one who will increase my number and size of tanks till the day I die for these fish. I just love them.

How many gallons are u currently running?

Fish being released or not cared for properly is the byproduct of people wanting something that is just a fad, looks cool or just plain ignorant. Just be glad that the rest of the US doesn't have a climate like Florida.........

It's not just a warm climate problem tho. Snakeheads are supposedly showing up pretty far north. A documentary I watched said that they could possibly adapt to much of the lower 48's water. Fish diseases could also be transmitted even if the original host can't survive indefinetly.
