How to start a Saltwater Tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
No experience with nano skimmers.

Crushed coral is fine...its large grain though lets a lot of waste slip down between the cracks and pollute up your tank.

Guys...dont dread it. Just make a thread. :grinno:

I think i would buy a salt water cycle for the tank and that way with the livesand and some base rock and a good test kit. i think i would do it that way so i would not have to kill any life at all.

no you can do a fish only tank and learn about the fish first which is a good way to go. that way if you start out that way it will give you more time to learn about the reefs if you want to go that way or not.

I think that crushed coral would do fine about a couple of inches and I still would do base rock and yes i would do a sea clone or some thing. But I really don't know anything about a rei hang on the back skimmer and find that you get what you pay for in equitment so if you ever do deside that you want to go with a reef some day you will have it and it will still work properly. your fish will appeiate it too.
