eh, you could do a female convict or firemouth. Golden mbuna are cool, kribensis, oscars (just kidding about oscars) but much more. there's also a lot of cool fish that can live in a 20 gallon

Nannacara, laetacara, and bujurquina species are some of my favorite dwarf cichlids. I'd keep a pair of any of them in a 20 gallon.
