Even then you still don't know, it's a matter of trust.

The only way to know is to have caught it yourself or seen it caught from the wild.

Well that's why I mentioned the whole trust thing. I mean, if Rapps says they are wild caught, while he could be lying, he probably isn't. If some guy at Pet Smart says they are Wild Caught, while he could be lying, he probably is.

My point is that unless your source is reputable and not mistaken you have no idea.

Not by just looking at it. A lot of people will say their fish is WC to help sell it and get more money for it. The last time I sold a batch of Festae fry to one of my lfs, I told them the parents were F0 father x F1 mother acquired from Jeff Rapps. I went back a few days later and they had them labeled as Wild Caught Festae from S. America. I said something to the girl and she said "Do you want us to keep buying fish from you or not?". I haven't sold them anything since.

I know lots of people have already said this but got to trust the source....that would be funny if ever time we got a WC fish it came w/ a certificate of authentication
