How to tell the difference between a regular jack dempsey and a blue gene

Yours has more gold color on it. His is a lot more blue on it.

thats exactly why i thought it was a blue gene . i had a male a little bigger then the one in andrew's pic that looks exactly the same as his but this one looks different from both
 
it not true it a myth
there is no way to tell based on physical traits or actions/temperments. The only true way to tell is breed them with a known BGJD or a EBJD and see if you get EBJDs.

these two statements are exact opposites. first you say it isn't a myth, that purple on the head is a BGJD, then you say there is no way to tell based on physical traits...

I've heard of this myth before dont know how true it is . I always thought that jd s that have alot of blue in thier spangles its a bgjd
