No no I am not trying to keep the corals - I just didn't know where to put them apart from the puffer and I don't know if my pet store will buy corals from me or if I am going to have to post them up on craiglist and wait....I also didn't think that I should keep clownfish with my puffer until the tank gets set up.

clown fish should be fine with your puffer. I kept 4 with my dog face. LFS will usually buy corals for 1/3 their selling price no questions asked. For brains etc you will get a lot of cash ;)

based on your tap water results no you don't... i use my tap water, but i have very good tap water. Go get yours tested at the lfs. Make sure you test for metals, amonia, nitrite, nitrate and other stuff. Tell them its your tap and you need to know everything about it, then ask if they think it can be used. Prime water conditioner works wonder on tap water too.

Alright........we have really hard water than ruins my blonde hair and turns it gross yellow - even though we have a culligan water softener.....that sounds like a bad sign.

Do you think I will get $400 from the corals and the clownfish and the equipment I don't need???

Try making all of your points in one post. Makes it easier for us to read, and makes your threads a little shorter and less intimidating - in other words more people are going to be willing to come in, get up to speed, and give you their advice. I have no idea what you are doing at this point, it seems that you change your mind on things every thirty seconds. The canuck is going to have to take this one. GL

Yes, it is a thought process and I do appreciate the canuck for being so very patient with me.

I took my tap water to my lfs and they wouldn't test my water saying that it would be too full of (phosphate?) and it would breed algae and would make the tank unstable and would be risky because it is well water. (but it is softened well water) I don't even think they even could test it for metals honesty.
It wasn't very nice : (
