Hey Everybody,

Tomorrow I'm bringing back my naso tang along with what I hope....my engineer goby however he is way to difficult to catch. I've used traps the bottle method and a DIY trap that has no problem catchingany fish except bottom dwellers... however he is very interested in trying to eat pellets through container.

Any Ideas?....I'm pretty sure wont be able to catch him in 12 hours lol

Thanks

Yeah when you cut the beginning portion of a water bottle and place it inside...

Ya, like that...maybe leave it in there for awhile longer and see if he gets caught? Idk of anything else you can do

yea as far as trapping goes that is about it.

you could buy a really small fish hook and literally fish him out - chances of doing him in are high. I love mine, just wish that he would come out more. i never see him. one or two centimeters sometimes when I feed and that is it.

"By doing him in" do you mean he would end up dead?....Lol i'm not too smart...

The oly problem with using small hooks and bait would be that the other fish would try going for it...lol btw the goby is awesome, comes out often however he just messes up the sand beds near the rocks which gets me nervous.

Mine has built a cave under my rock. I had to redue the rocks so that I know they wouldnt fall. So far so good. Been this way for 8 months and think we are ok. He comes out at feeding time, but otherwise I only see his head during the day.
Catching him would be a pain in the ......
Just keep trying the bottle trick. Stick the opening near his tunnel or cave..

This is what I was going to recommend. If he comes out of the same spot all the time you may be able to get him by putting the open end towards him.

If your worried about your rock work just drill that shot and stick an acrylic rod or some schedule 80 PVC or something. Not to difficult or expensive $50 counting buying a drill and the masonry bit. Than you can keep your fish and create some insane structures.
