This is my first real big tank, big enough to were i can't carry it out back and hose it out.

How am i suppose to wash it out to put sand/water in there?

Guess i could hook the hose to the sink... but then i would have to get it out..

How do you guys do it?

if you mean like the sides of tank are all dirty then get non soapy spong and clean it. and with a little bit of hard work you will get it looking new and clean again

thats if what i said at the start factors in

Get someone to help you carry it out back and then clean it out real well, scrape off any lime stains, paint the back if your're going to, etc. Before a tank's filled is the one and only time you've got to get it perfectly clean.

Painting the back never really crossed my mind, i've always used those cheep paper backgrounds:ROFL:

What kind of paint would you recommend?

spray paint... matt black... glossy black very reflective and takes away from the fish.. obviously paint the outside of the tank.. most people use krylon fusion but theres not really a "wrong" answer... several light coats are much better than one thick coat... also putting the tank on its side will help with runs/drips if your not that great with a rattle can..

I swirl it on with a big sponge. I use anywhere from 1-3 colors at once. Black, brown & gray. Looks pretty good when it's done and it only takes 2 minutes.
