Get someone to help you carry it out back and then clean it out real well, scrape off any lime stains, paint the back if your're going to, etc. Before a tank's filled is the one and only time you've got to get it perfectly clean.

Yeap. Once outside, it is quick work to clean it up. Inside you end up minding too many p's and q's to use the good old elbow grease.

pictures of the multicolor backround? sounds interesting...
Here's the brown swirled if you can see it. The fish is blurred but the background isn't.
Are you going to make me go take current pictures? lol
Edit: Ok the 2nd picture is the black/brown. Can't really tell much, can you?

Interesting... is the darker part the bare glass? or black paint?

The darker part is the black paint. No bare glass shows.

Your sand looks clean as hell btw!

If you had a python you could just clean it in the house and hot water with a clean sponge, thats what i do. If you dont have a python it would be a fine investment. I dont know how people have tanks with out one :D
And i use the Krylon latex spray paint as well for backgrounds on some of my tanks.

Hmm, could i roll the paint on with a roller? just tape up the tank, open my windows, roll the paint on, close off the room for the day... maybe some fans...

what do you think?

That's how I did my tank - just used a regular paint roller & paint tray. Of course I masked the trim work first. I did 3 coats to get good coverage. I used a latex flat black paint.

What's the difference between matte and flat black?
