Another thing to think about is that is could possibly make working in your tank much harder if you ray associates your hand with food....

best to let the ray come to the top of the tank and take the food from you first....

That's what I do.

I will probabley hear this is wrong but... When i first had my ray in a tank i want to hand feed him. I would cut up worms stick them between my index and middle finger and put it on the sand bed. After about a week of this he began to eat it out of my hand. Just dont move fast or they will turn away and the stinger can be pretty close.

i did this when i got my first one, he was lil about 4-5" i carefully did it, funny thing was, he knew my hand and would only eat out of mine, my brother tried it and he would just go into the corner.

now with my big guys its a lil more intimidating... ill feed them if they climb the side.

Rays are gentle by nature, just dont do anything to piss them off or scare them when your hands are in the tank, respect them, and yes, they all have poison

i would just be careful at all times when hand feeding... if u ever saw a female that dosnt want to be mated by a male, u will see what accuracy they have with their stingers. they can easily puncture a target right in front of them, like a scorpion...:)
