How well do Arowana deal with salt ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I do the traditional 1 good tblspn for each 5 gals. That is with my dats and FRT right now to prevent any possible shell diseases or such and the dats tend to like it.

So everytime you do a water chnage, you add salt in it? Why? Do your tank always have an outbreak? I just add salt whenever there's an outbreak. And yes, arowna are very tolerant to salt.

Where did you get your info and whose Dr. Johnson?

I never said that I keep my tanks at .3% salt at all times. Two times a year I use salt at that level in my tanks as a PM. I have been doing so for the last 10 years. I have not had any problems with my tanks in years and I thing this is one of the reasons why. Dr Johnson is a fish Vet. If you want to learn more about him go to my site and take a look. I have a 15-inch red aro and it has tiny mushroom like stuff growing in its barbels. I put 2 tbsp of rock salt everytime i make a water change (weekly) of 30%. Is that enough? Or should i follow the 2 tbsp per 5 gallon rule? My tank is 75 gallons.
