Yes you can... as mentioned in another thread, send a DNA sample to get it tested. It's pretty hard differentiating them as adults, so even more difficult as a 4 incher.

IMO, it doesn't matter the sex of your aros unless you're planning to breed, which not many can afford the space.

ya but lets be realistic here!

who on earth would you send it to? :nilly:

Any veterinarian could do it, right? I mean they do it for Parrots( the birds, not the little genetic freak of a fish) all the time. So just ask your local vet. and they could send away a sample to be tested for your.

From what I hear...the males have a big underbite.

their is no way of telling male from female without DNA

the larger bottom jaw is classed as a defect in asian aros PLJ (potruding lower jaw )

WRONG! Need I remind you guys that the one that is laying eggs is usually the female!? :D While there are many things that can help you tell the sex of your aro, there is nothing physical you can see that will show you the sex 100%. If you intend to breed, get a group of 6 or more, if not, then just enjoy your aro.

no you are wrong

are you telling me that NO female aros will have the larger bottom jaw

like i said some class the larger bottom jaw as a defect in asian aros this would mean their are no females in the asian breeding projects

How about we not start a reply with a negative, helps for better conversation....just a thought?

I think you missed the step where you read my post. :D You need not be so hostile as well. Read the parts in bold, then you will understand. As I stated, there are many things that can help you tell the sex of your aro, but there is nothing pysical that you can se that will show you the sex 100%. In other words, the only guaranteed method is DNA, or the one laying eggs is the female.

if their was any sure way to id aros everyone would be keeping them in pairs and tank breeding would be easy
