I have a venison steak that I plan to cook for dinner using stove top. Being a university student good meals are one in a million so how would you all cook this one in a million meal. Give me the best recipe for amazing flavor please

cook. period. I hate people that season the hell out of venison. its delicious by itself.

it is good on its own but I was going to put chopped onion and tomato over it with a bit of olive oil in the pan and cook to medium rare

This all depends on what cut you have and what that deer has been feeding on before it was harvested. If you don't know the answer to either, then your best bet is a chili or stew recipe.

good point on the cut, but boo on the stew lol

I've never had venison taste bad due to their diet lol. Unless it was harvested in the middle of a city it should be a generally similar diet around a lot of areas.

I'd stick with the onions and tomatoes, maybe a dusting of garlic or steak seasoning, use enough oil that you don't dry it out since venison is so lean. That's what I do every time with my steaks, grill or stove top.

Deer harvested in the bush, that's been feeding on plants like poison ivy, etc, has a very gamy taste. Deer harvested off an apple orchard taste fantastic with no gaminess and its these meat that goes on the grill like steak from beef.
