We have just got a 2ft Arowana but we have to go Pick it up tomorrow which is a about 45min to hr long drive. We were going to put him into a tank or maybe a bag but, dont know if he will last that long for the trip home for air. Any body know how we should do this?

maybe a big cooler and batery operated air pump try not to have it in direct sun light

That's what I was gonna say

Do not put him in a bag.

+1 on the cooler with battery powered air pump. Fill the cooler with some water from your tank for the way there. Maybe 10-20%. Then once you get there fill the rest with water from the arowana's current tank. This will speed up the acclimation process from their tank to your tank. You'll have a head start for when you get home.

Good luck

i would recommend using a large black trash bag to get the fish outa the tank with minimal water in the bag. then place the whole bag into a cooler. fill the bag up with water. and run an air stone in the bag while the whole thing is in the cooler. the black bag blindfolds the fish when its coming out of the tank. and there are no surfaces for the scales to get caught on. but be careful, the bag may not support the weight of the fish so an extra set of hands may be needed.

We are thinking to put the 55 gallon fish tank in the back of are pick-up to go get him.

all the above is correct, BUT, pay attention to those plastic bags, because I've had an aro EXPLODE out of one in the blink of an eye and rocket through the living room.....

Do not forget the battery operated airpump ( or car lighter charged ) AND, bring a couple of extra jerrycans of the water the aro is in...

stop along the way and do a partial water change ( take a hose with you )....opening the transport box ( a normal cooler seems too small for that sized aro ) will also change the air...

G Luck.. has been done before ( I've driven mine for more than 2,400 kilometres )....

Could i Just keep him in a Big Trash bag the whole ride with a air pump in the bag?

keep the black trash bag in the 55 tank (or the cooler) an make sure the air stones (or aerator) is in there. Keep the bottom of the bag full of a lil of the pond water then dump him in with the rest of his water to help him get used to it

That would sound Easy.
